Vicki Jayne Cook

Vicki Jayne Cook was born January 19, 1953; the eldest child of Dean V and Z Esther (Hall) Cook of Tipton, MI.  She passed away June 16, 2022 at Lynwood Manor in Adrian MI.

As a young girl Vicki was an active member of Girl Scouts, participating in all levels of Scouting other than Brownies.  This participation culminated with her being part of a large contingent of Scouts from Jackson, Lenawee and Monroe Counties who travelled to Girl Scouting’s Western Hemisphere World Center (Our Caban͂a) located near Mexico City in 1969.  This adventure required two years of planning, organizing, and fund raising.

Vicki graduated as Valedictorian of Tecumseh High School in 1971, and later obtained degrees from Western Michigan University in 1975 (Bachelor of Secondary Education) and 1979 (Master in Accountancy).

Her early adult years saw Vicki living in Kalamazoo, MI and her later adult years in Tipton, MI. In both locations Vicki worked as a Book-keeper, Accountant, Notary, and Small Business Entrepreneur.  Her return to Tipton allowed her to reconnect with Tipton Community Church where she served in multiple volunteer capacities for decades, among them the Women’s Fellowship, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School, Youth Leader, produced the Church Newsletter, and was unofficial Historian for the Church and Village. She was also a devoted cat lover who spent her entire life enjoying the company of a feline friend.

Vicki is survived by her siblings, Roger (Karen) Cook of Ypsilanti, MI and Roxanna (Richard) Miller of Dexter MI; nephews, Aaron (Amanda) Cook of Chicago and Nathan (JooRi) Cook of Pittsburgh; nieces, Jennifer (Michael) Callahan of Dexter MI and Katherine (Andrew) Fell of Columbus OH; two grand-nephews, Samuel and Parker; several cousins, and many dear friends.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Dean and Z. Esther Cook and all grand-parents, aunts and uncles.  

As per her wishes, Vicki has been cremated and will be interred next to her parents in the Franklin Township Cemetery.

A Memorial Service in honor of Vicki will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at  2:00 P.M.  at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
